more witchy stuff!

I don’t think I had shown you this card yet, it was done with the Vintage Halloween plate from Artistic Outpost. The fence was stamped right over the little witch and embossed with copper.

What I like most about this card is how I did the “background shading”. I masked some areas of the card and then flick spritzed some neutral colors from watercolor crayons over the card to make shadows at the tree bases and right up front by the fence. It gives it just a touch more dimension.

stitch your ribbon!

Today sketch SC190 on splitcoast had me with a slow start, whatever I tried didn’t really look right. Cleared the table, and did it over again to make this flowery stitched card that I am happy with:

thanks

closeup

I started with basic grey designer paper (”perhaps”) which has gorgeous colors. The flowers were done with a SU punch and I sewed them on with sheer ribbon french knots. Added some more stitching with ribbon and some brads. All flowers are “mobile” as they can turn on the french knot, I like the dimensionality of that and its fun playing with it. The punched flowers have a shadow of punched flowers from black card stock. The sentiment is from the I’m Just Saying set by Clear Artistic Stamps. I am sure I will sew more often with ribbon on my cards, really like the effect.

I have something new for you here today as well :)

more piercings

Just another fun card with some swirl piercing (part of onare template):

autumn treats

The stamps are from the beautiful set called Autumn Treats by Clear Artistic Stamps. I colored with koh-i-noor pencils and really love how the pumpkins look with a pink blush! Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon .

still loading!

How about another sheetload card? This time I played with the sketch from the regular August issue and boy did I have fun with this one:

sheetload

This was the first time I used Prismacolor markers and I must say I really do like them. I feel I could use a week long course in how to use markers but after a lot more play I should get more comfortable with them.
All stamps used are from the beautiful Paper Roses set from Firecrackerdesigns by Pamela. The background was done in a technique called Ink Wash with Dye Inks using real red SU classic and giving it a good wash with a water brush. Main images were stamped in Library Green Archival ink (Ranger) and colored with markers. Seems this ink holds up perfectly to the markers, no smearing or bleeding.
Well this is the second time I’m showing you my sheetload today, but I really just wanted to try out those markers :)

loads of challenges

Today we have a new challenge on the DRSdesigns blog, all about piercing . Go and check out what everybody has done, its fun to see all the different ways the DT came up with to use piercing on their cards! And go play along! We’d love to see what you do with piercing.

I used this opportunity to play a bit with the Sheetload Mini sketch:

mini sheetload

All stamping on this card was heat embossed. I love that Fancy Star Ribbon Slide ! The bit of piercing on the bottom gave the card just a little something that it needed. I like to use piercing in shapes or sort of a shadow effect. For my second card I used the Sheetload Mini sketch a bit looser, flipped it on its side, centered the three panels and used all three small parts across one panel, but still used the exact same elements:

mini sheetload

To make the Single Bulb Ribbon Slide look a bit like glass I just colored the glass part of the embossed image with versamarker and clear embossed.

Well, this is my entry for this month’s “Show us your Sheetload” at Sheetload of Cards , go play along, its fun!

Here is another sample for the new Route66 plate from Artistic Outpost. I loved combining all the different stamps in different color ink, just fun!

route66

The bottom area was stamped with the cactus held upside down…. the cactus was also stamped in green opalite on the red mat.

No reason to be scared, there will be no tricks….this little boy isn’t scared at all walking through the night with all the boos and darkness around:

The boy and his wagon, pumpkins, stars and hat are from the That’s my Boy set. this time I used the whole pumpkin stamp, remember this card where I used the pumpkin greenery to make some flowers. I added the leafy branches, boos and trick or treat sentiment from the new fall set. The background was sponged with sepia ink, the bottom leaves stamped with masking the boy and wagon. Stop by The Cottage Studio to see more samples with the new set, you also have all the designer’s blogs linked there, I think there may be some more blog candy coming! Belinda will be at chat too for you to ask questions, perhaps you have some special requests what you would like to see in stamps? Go for it and join us, hope to see you tomorrow :)

its in the tiny things!

Today’s center of attraction are the purple and white cone flowers:

skipper

You don’t have to be large to be pretty and catch my attention! This little European Skipper only has a wingspan of about 3/4 inch, it is a joy to watch half a dozen of them swirl around the flowers, though that’s hard to photograph. Lets have a closer look:

skipper

Thymelicus lineola, you always wanted to know :)

I don’t ever get tired of looking at those colors!

do you doodle?

Have you ever machine-doodled? Try it out, its really fun. I always like techniques where you ‘can’t go wrong’ cause you really can’t, its a doodle, just go for it! straight is good, crooked is good, go out for a loop and spin!

pumpkins

I used the big fat pumpkin stamp from the soon-to-be-released “Autumn Treats”, drawn by Belinda of Clear Artistic Stamps . I stamped in black onto Kraft card stock (papertrey ink) and colored with pencils, just that, no gamsol. When you color your pumpkins, remember that every orange needs a little green around the edges, makes it look so much better! We will have a small 1 - 2 hour release chat party on Thursday evening, I hope you can find the time to join us. Details to follow. Gwen and Linsey have been busy working in The Cottage Studio today using the same stamp, why not drop by and leave them a comment :)
